Pastor Les Takkinen
was born and raised in
the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, not far from Lake Superior. He attended Northern Michigan
University in Marquette, near his hometown of Chatham. During his senior year at the
university, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior.
He graduated in 1966 with a Bachelor of
Science degree in Business Education, married his wife, Linda, and moved to Crystal Falls,
Michigan to teach high school.
However, Les felt the working of the Lord
in his life, directing him to preach the Word of God. As a result, he left the teaching
profession after four years of service and enrolled in the Grand Rapids School of the
Bible and Music (now called Cornerstone College). He started to pastor Milo Bible Church,
outside of Kalamazoo, Michigan during his second year at the Bible school. He continued
this ministry upon graduation in 1973.
In 1978, he was called to serve as the
pastor of Grace Bible Church of Streamwood, Illinois. There, God richly blessed his
ministry for the Lord Jesus Christ where he wrote the "Beginning Your New Life in
Christ" study booklet.
He has also served the Lord in Ohio, and
is presently pastoring Grace Bible Church (formerly Fundamental Bible Church) of West
Allis, Wisconsin.
In 1993, Les graduated with his Master of
Ministries degree from Moody Bible Institute.
He also serves on the Personnel Committee of Grace Ministries International. He has travelled to several foreign
countries including Israel.
Les anticipates to continue the pastorate
at West Allis for many years to come where he is seeing much fruit of souls for the glory
of Jesus Christ.
